The best engineers that I worked with that were 100x engineers and some of the most intelligent people I ever worked with But honestly they weren’t that much better technically than others I knew (some were better and would write more code faster) - what they were really good at - great communicators, and that’s why their ideas got buy in from the team / management etc

Often they would tell a story or a need of what internal or external customers seemed to need or needed. Then they would come up with some way to build it quick or convince management to put their weight behind it. Once they were done they would showcase it or folks would use it and that would solidify their story that they would tell They did this over and over again at rapid speed and that would be how theyd do 100x

there is a certain engineering mindset when it comes to communicating and developing a well-thought, elegant solution. for those that innately have it, it’s like an authentic instinct that’s deeper than something that can be learned

this is extremely relatable as an engineer. most people making product decisions are non-technical. they don’t care much about the cool tech stuff being used to develop a product, they care about how it will impact the customers. creating a customer story with clear communication is what really matters. tech people (like me) focus too much on the how, but it’s the why that actually makes a difference.
