wtf is going on with the air industry this is actually insane $170 US extra for this on a $200 flight my parents just booked a flight also where they would have to pay $200pp extra if they wanted their pair of tickets to be together on a flight and not split up…

Airlines barely break even usually on business class or first class They usually lose money on economy These days they mostly make their money on premium economy and seat upgrades believe it or not

I had no idea it was so bad they’re charging the same price as the flight for these “perks” - last I remember it was like a $30-40 difference not $170! I guess that’s the only way they can keep air travel accessible to most and also barely stay afloat eh

And where they really make their money is their airline rewards programs. So much so that their businesses flying people are almost all money losing
