it would be valuable for neynar to have simple and rate limited api key's for people that are tinkering with the protocol the 10 usd tier could be a block for many aspiring devs that are looking for free tooling to test things out do i pay for a tutorial or for 1 month of usage of something that i don't know how to use?

This already exists. Just use the api key on the docs site. (obv rate limited in a way it won’t work in prod, but does work for testing)

but that api key is hidden to the user or not? im thinking more of: > new user creates a Neynar account > they get a simple rate limited api that they can use on their code it is different to run code on the docs than on the learning environment of a person that doesn’t know what they are doing

I could see this working if tied to an FID/SIWN and was very low and slow (but enough to test in your own code). Needs to have something to stop abuse and the basic fee for setting up an account on FC should prevent botting. Though the general FC HTTPAPI is of course free anyway so can test a lot of stuff there with public hubs.
