I built two decks from the modern horizons 3 bundle with my son. I got both of these monsters out and he beat me with Phlage and a little 1 drop. Oh well, the more he wins, the more he wants to play 😊

He's 9. We started a year ago with the Lord of the rings starter decks and a friend loaned me starter decks from the early 2000s where the most complicated thing is flying. He was only mildly interested at the start but he's seen me going to prereleases and other things and so has gotten more interested lately.

How old is your son? My 10 year old can’t sit long enough for me to teach— I need like a few “starter-starter” decks or something

In my day we paid 6 mana for a 6/4 Craw Wurm with no special abilities and goddammit we were excited for the privilege!

But also can't wait until my son is old enough for stuff like this!
