this is a good idea and should be built. there's no reason why drivers and riders shouldn't own the network they use to transport. and the technology is good enough to make it possible.

I’m curious what you think could be onchain here? Ideally it would be decentralized and riders + drivers own it, but Uber gets the licenses / provides safety to riders as a 3rd party — unsure how it could work fully decentralized given DAO governance hasn’t shown it can work at that scale?

lots of hard problems to figure out, but I see no fundamental reason why we can't have: 1. payments onchain 2. identity verification onchain 3. safety mechanisms designed in a more federated way

I don't think 3 is possible without centralization RN. See email, the most successful decentralized protocol, requires so many layers on top to fight spam that it makes it effectively a series of fiefdoms. That is with weak financial incentives and little bodily risk. Not saying it's impossible, just don't see the path

Agree with 1 and 2! 3 has long been a thorn in my side trying to think through, as I do want someone to try battle Uber/Lyft Letting 5* drivers bring over their profiles from existing apps, to kickstart a good environment, is the only half-baked idea I’ve had
