Can anyone explain the logic here? If only luxury goods are being exempted aren't the tariffs basically one of the most regressive tax hikes in history? Also why not give more of a heads up so that the example Cuban provides doesn't happen?

Because that would discourage people making the trek to Mar A Lago & paying $1m for a sit down and to beg for tariff relief.   They don’t want to hear from the ones who are too poor for the offering.
