If you’re on food stamps (SNAP), you only get plain water. If you complain about it, you shouldn’t have decided to be poor.

Gonna take a contrarian take here, but 90%+ of soda are straight up VERY bad for health, and responsible for multiple health disorder, starting with obesity. Not saying it's good that rich people can have them, and poor people can't, but it's not a bad thing to not have access to soda 🤷‍♂️

I don't understand why taxpayers should be stolen from to pay for something like soda? I am not speaking from the high horse of privilege here, I know what real hunger is to the point where to this day my wife and I still compulsively refuse to waste a single crumb of food to this day despite not having experienced food insecurity for a while now. But many of the people I know on stamps sell them for drugs at 50 cents on the dollar. I know that is just my personal experience but that has been my consistent experience since I was old enough to be aware of such things. So the fact that you already have at least some diversion of food stamps straight into tax subsidized drug use, makes me even more pissed off that soda is something you can buy with food stamps. It is ridiculous. It should feed hungry people not help give even more people diabetes (which has exploded lately). Unrelated, I stopped soda a decade ago and you don't miss it after a little while, water is underrated. I am done with my soda rant now.
