Im genuinely curious though: What data do they have to prove its rare? Amount of ppl caught? That sounds like a pretty unreliable data if thats the case. Imagine we estimate the amount of online piracy just with the amount of ppl getting caught...

It's beyond rare. You can't even register to vote if you aren't a citizen, and non-citizens have absolutely no incentive to try to vote illegally. This is a shameless voter suppression tactic.

I'm ignoring the idiotic other comment here to say yes, yes it is a super rare issue which the right has turned into a Boogeyman to justify their dwindling numbers and bleak future as a political party. They'll try hard to say it's not rare and they'll try to say it's only happening to them but they're full of shit in the end.

Regardless, until we either have 100% paper ballots again or have voting machines with open source software everyone should consider any elections we have to be illegitimate. There is so much power and money at stake that the temptation to manipulate results is huge. Closed source software for national elections is absolutely insane. What's also insane is that you literally can't even bring this issue up without being accused of being a right wing conspiracy theorist.
