Is this a real dilemma in practice? If I understand correctly, dictators would only have to control & restrict communication related to subversion, dissidence etc. while enabling the exchange of other types of information. For better or worse, as far as I can tell by looking at some authoritarian states, this seems to work in practice to enable prosperity while remaining in power. 🤔
