I am ready to quit my phone.

My motivation is to improve my effectiveness in, and enjoyment of, life.

I am confident it will be net beneficial to remove my phone as the crutch to which I default my attention in lieu of anything else occupying it in a given moment.

PHONE RULES:

Week 3 on PHONE RULES.

I averaged 20 minutes daily phone screen time. But 90 out of 140 were on Saturday, so the rest of the week's average was under 10 minutes per day.

Saturday was the first real exception day. I was traveling and had to deal with flight stuff in the airport. Frontier customer support haha. Brutal.

btw if you look back the first phone rule was "I fully abide by my phone rules at least 9 days out of 10"

reason for that was primarily to observe that there will be exceptions and i should not be discouraged by them so long as they remain just that - exceptions

so far i've had 2 exceptions in 24 days, so far so good

we’re in a new internet with blockchain tech.

it's been really great, definitely an adjustment, but not difficult at all

my next thing will be to figure out how to better manage my social media usage (here and X) on my computer since all my use of both has now moved to web, but i intentionally did not want to force myself to address that right away

will be easier to manage if contained to just the one device (vs. web and mobile) and for now spending 20 min or less per day on my phone per week feels like a huge win

highly recommend tailoring the phone rules to yourself personally as i do not think it is a 1 size fits all solution by any means but a lot of themes of the rules should hold

It actually has not been hard at all. But it took years of trying things and figuring things out to land upon these rules which finally seem to work. The og cast with the rules is everything you need to know about how I do it. But you will need different rules for yourself depending how you use your phone.
