the flying one is crazy because you realize how much of the jet lag and grogginess is just not having great air. it makes you wonder how much headroom there is to improve comfort purely by improving air quality.

Not only the CO2 content, but also air pressure being much lower than sea level. 787s, being made of a composite, are able to withstand a higher internal pressure, which reduces fatigue somewhat. https://aviation.stackexchange.com/questions/1728/does-the-b787-dreamliner-operate-with-higher-cabin-pressure

The 787 supposedly has much better air quality (https://www.reddit.com/r/MachinePorn/comments/cuhowm/boeing_787_cacs_cabin_air_conditioning_machinery/) but I haven't flown it enough to have good data on this.
