ok the fast approval of EIP-7514 actually makes me question the ethereum credible neutrality for the first time ever if this goes live in Dencun, it clearly shows that the core devs can push changes to the network at will

I do wonder if Ethereum's govnance approach of "social consensus" ultimately ends similar to on chain governance. It seems to be a case of the community influencers control what goes in vs the largest token holders. It perhaps works currently when there are (hopefully!) good actors but that may not always be the case

1/2 > influencers control what goes in oh boy i have a controversial opinion on this i believe eth influencers mostly deserve their place in the ecosystem. people like @sassal.eth @evanvanness or @ryanb.eth just put a ton of work to publish high quality content regularly and also spend a lot of time talking to core devs

Unless extremely technical themselves, they ultimately rely on the core devs being honest, and ppl like myself then also rely on those community members that rely on devs also acting in good faith. All it takes is for the devs to become financially motivated in the future to push towards selfish decisions

Not saying that is the case, but further down the line i guess i don't see it ending up being a 10x better process than something like on chain governance. Just a different method that will end with similar results ultimately
