One of the healthiest foods you can eat are broccoli sprouts. As the name suggests, these are the precursors to broccoli that grow from their seedlings. Broccoli sprouts are very rich in a compound called sulfurophane that researchers at John Hopkins University have lauded for its anti-cancer properties, as well as benefits to cardiovascular and neurological health among a long list of other benefits. At the recommendation of a friend I started growing my own broccoli sprouts at home. You can do it with a very simple set up as they can grow in mason jars. To activate the effective compound you should have 2-4oz per day and the easiest way to do that is to blend them into a smoothie or chop them into a salad. There have a mostly neutral taste and they will give you benefit of eating huge amounts of greens if you include them in your diet. You can also buy boxes of sprouts in the store but this is much cheaper. It’s also fun to sprout and then farm them after a few days. I recommend it for health.

Very common in Chinese households to do the same with mungbeans. Very accessible to get the base mungbean to start them too
