I had to ask a candidate to provide social proof and conduct a background check before offer for a position. Why? AI Deep fakes. - online presence created within the last month with date tags but you’ve been working for a decade and went to an American university? - no open source projects or contributions - works at marquee brand companies with >100 network connections/follows after a decade - if you work at Apple or Google, everyone you’ve ever worked with and their mother will try to connect with you - photoshopped photo that looks like the other fake I caught last month - American names like “Doug Anderson” but Zoom interview, the accent doesn’t sound like white cis-gender male from FL - take profile photo and cross reference with Google Images to uncover the real owner of photo - university professor?? (Faculty photos are huge targets to create fake identities) Truly a problem that everyone on my team and industry at large is trying to combat - never had to until this year! 😵💫

totally hear you on this @pris, it's hard. would love to follow up w you about the challenges you're having here the key here is Trust. if you know you are connected to someone that person knows, and they recommend them for that role, the whole thing gets a lot easier, which is why we built attestations the way we did for ex, i say all these people are good at Design, and if you think i'm good at design you will hold these people in higher regard most likely https://app.icebreaker.xyz/credentials/Skill%3A%20Design?show=receivers&givers=clh873rkq005lmk08copg0snk the same thing goes for companies as well! thanks for the tag @lawrenceroman
