- how does your work fit into broader company goals
- can you articulate the importance of your work
- are you working with the right teams/dependencies (eg not duplicating work!)

i think there is a definite split in engineers where some are there just for the technology / 'craft' and some have the broader picture view of 'we are working on this to contribute to a product that brings in revenue', i think that's where a lot of product thinking comes from
