we desperately need to stop with the rebrands 

>web3
>dapps
>nfts
>socialfi 
>play-to-earn
>gamefi

none of these have been beneficial for crypto in the slightest & have only added to the perception problem we face 

unfortunately, even the word “blockchain” has become cringe 

acceptable terms:

>crypto
>stablecoin
>memecoin

yappin in /midwits & creating idle rpg /animarising

not a single person on instagram finds the term “socialfi” attractive 

not a single gamers find the term “gamefi” attractive 

not a single non-crypto tech person thinks the term “web3” is cool

this is a sensitive subject lol

devs build for other devs & think non-devs are useless & then wonder why their app doesn’t have any users 

non-devs join infra projects & then try to brand everything like a gen z skincare company & then wonder why they get fired 

they’re both wrong; you very much need non dev & dev on team, but more than that, you need vision & to understand your market; it’s a big issue 

i like what phelps has to say on this 

also recall a recent tweet by jim where he was talking about how every non-dev that comes into the space is immediately labeled as “non-technical” which deters talent

but then how are the clueless "weeb3" marketing teams gonna keep the cheque writer bosses even more perplexed so they can stay on the payroll?

true tho “crypto” feels arguably the least pretentious and is also the most well known 

similarly memecoins is just another term that everyone knows and is intuitive 

my concern is more about adding unnecessary complexity

Agreed with the sentiment, but the perception of 'crypto' is not exactly positive either. Neither are memecoins a particularly noteworthy use case that could convince non-crypto natives.
