this incredibly disappointing response from a prominent fc dev on requesting tracking curated streaks rather than raw at the core: are channels communities with taste (which inherently means uplifting some content and ignoring others) or are they simply content aggregators (hashtags)? those of us working to build community beyond "buy my shit" are unsupported by the current meta and it'd be helpful to have the meta clarified. @cameron @jpren.eth @adrienne @ccarella @nounishprof @benna @christin @toadyhawk.eth @matthew @ahn.eth If we're building in a direction that won't be supported, would like to know so i can stop caring so much. from the dev perspective: protocol should be unbiased yes, but app layer works best opinionated, & social layer even moreso. Pls give us tools to highlight folks doing the deal providing conversational liquidity and making the scenius. It shouldn't all be ranks and metrics to determine quality, that gets gamed. even merkle has heavy hand picking "best casters" kthxbye

im tired of seeing casts that are only "gm" "strike" and "f4f" in recent y'all bc streaks incentive is currently "cast anything" not "cast on topic"

"asking for curated streak gives unwarranted responsibility to channel hosts" is bullshit imo. owning a channel and building a community is a responsibility and pretending it isn't isn't helping anyone.

> Pls give us tools to highlight folks doing the deal providing conversational liquidity and making the scenius. It shouldn't all be ranks and metrics to determine quality, that gets gamed. this is pretty much the billion dollar question, right? how to reward quality contributions & contributors without triggering the hordes of value seekers that care nothing about your mission, just want to extract anything of value? i agree with you from an organizer's standpoint; but as a builder what also sucks is that it's super difficult to pinpoint a common denominator for every org as everyone always wants something "custom" or "unique" to them as @fun seems to point out in his response

hey man dont poo poo on me there are plenty of other ways to filter for "non-spammy" cast streaks in a specific channel, which i asked suggestions for using the endpoint you provided to get streaks for Farcaster Studio would (significantly) reduce speed and efficiency to get channel streaks once again, all ears to hear if you have another way to filter for "quality" user streaks, i'm on your side man

i think i'm missing sth here - if bots have streaks in your channel, do they automatically go to main feed? is that what the issue is? surely there must be a way to filter the spam here. it seems insane that there isn't a way to do this for channel moderation?

Can understand your frustration. Rounds may be a good work around here -- you can hide those that don't qualify. It would be cool to have a similar implementation for streaks where a mod could optionally hide what doesn't apply. I have no idea what it would take from a technical perspective.

This is horrible. Bots should not be rewarded for bad behavior.

Don’t stop caring, I’m with you 100% that you don’t get enough praise for what you do, but tbh where would we/farcaster be without you/other devs…….youll need to do what you do because you love it/helping others and forget about what people think wether they care or not Because if you do will you really be happy when you stop caring?
