I believe the shorter a YouTube video is, the more viewers it attracts. Perhaps by multiples. Is it true for casts as well?

Well I don't think that applies to all there are some streamers like ishowspeed and kai cenant who post 4hrs , 5hrs and even 7 hrs videos and get alot of views on their videos I think it could just be based on the niche on what the creator has to offer but those streamers I mentioned above are really versatile in what they do in their streams hence the surge in viewers.

It all depends on why people use social media. If it's to hang out and not get involved, it may be easier to be a little short and move on to the next. In my case, I stop, read, see and appreciate what interests me

I hope not. I know not everyone is willing to read longer texts, but some people (including myself) do appreciate more depth or details when it comes to storytelling for example.
