The size is almost the least important aspect. Itβs the fact that the region Russia wants contains billions of dollars worth of critical minerals and, by hamstringing the Ukrainian economy through theft of these minerals, it will be easier for Russia to invade again, especially if the US doesnβt support Ukraine post βpeace dealβ https://www.aljazeera.com/economy/2025/2/26/us-ukraine-critical-minerals-deal-what-we-know-so-far

Alaska is a NATO territory next to Russia, seems like the best one to cede so that the Kremlin could feel cozy.

Aren't the contested areas of Ukraine the backwater, nazi-filled ones anyway? Culturally speaking, It'd be like if the yellow area was Texas, Idaho, Alabama, etc.. Not the eastern coast. The rest of the US wouldn't be sad about that.
