What’s your opinion on spending $$ for a pre-seed / seed deck? I am of the mindset it’s a waste of time and money so long as you’re spending time and money on product Uber raised off straight bullets https://medium.com/@gc/the-beginning-of-uber-7fb17e544851

We spent ~$900 to add some polish to our deck after finalizing content. IMO totally worth it given we're building a consumer product and the deck is the first "product" that people saw. It communicated that we care about design and aesthetics.

It takes about 30m to make a slide deck not look horrible but if I see someone put significant money/design time (effectively equivalent) into making a deck I’m going to feel more sus bc time & money are the most valuable things to a startup & they just demonstrated wasting both

I was impressed how easily it was to make a great looking pitch deck with something like pitch.com

If you are a first time founder with zero network access -> Spend $ for pre-seed/seed deck as it will represent you and make a lasting impression. Aesthetics do open doors. If you are embedded in the start-up ecosystem and have a strong product: Just drop a mail with few links.
