went camping with a bunch of dads this summer and decided i want kids 30 years of being staunchly opposed, and it more or less vanished after one weekend in the woods with a bunch of guys that were only there to escape the obligations they'd created for themselves and i... decided i want that been processing it for weeks now, but i haven't talked myself out of it yet anyone else have a change of heart about kids later in life?

I was always like 60% sure I wanted to be a parent, though I had some doubts as I kinda lacked a good parental figure growing up. Then one day my wife and I found out we were expecting, but the gravity didn’t land until 9 months later. Unequivocally the best day of my life was becoming a father.

I will agree with that. I had no idea of what I was getting in to until the moment they sent us home from the hospital. Naturally, this was very different for my wife. But, it’s been surprising how seamless the transition into parenthood is—it’s hard, but it’s magical, and I think we tend to rise to the challenge. It makes me wonder if a major obstacle we face is an abundance of choice: What we want to do, who do we want to be with, where we want to work, etc, etc. So much effort goes towards choosing rather than acting and improving.
