I’ve used many many languages into production over the years, and I still can’t work out if JavaScript is an abomination to teams and maintenance like Perl and PHP, or it’s genius and should be everywhere? … PS I know it’s already everywhere by mistake, but let’s focus :o)

JS has improved a lot in the past 10 years yet I'll still avoid it as much as I can. WASM was sorely needed.

Crockford had it right: The good parts are great (and are all basically Scheme/Lisp). The bad parts are many, and invite fancy misuse and footguns.

I love that I can build virtually anything with JavaScript. I also hate that when I use Typescript on a React/Next.js project I have to deal with whatever the f React.DOMAttributes<HTMLButtonElement>.onClick?: (event: React.MouseEvent<HTMLButtonElement, MouseEvent>) is. Like what did we do??! 😭

If JS manages to fix its type system I’m honestly fine with it’s dominance continuing
