This โtippingโ culture in the USA seems identical to the sort of bribery that is endemic to third world nations like India, where youโll need to slip cash to the electrician you just called for him to actually start working. Seems like wages dipped below some kind of threshold during the pandemic, triggering thisโฆ

Tipping culture was bad enough before the pandemic and it's just stupid now. I'd rather servers and delivery people etc be paid a living wage and include that in the price of the food or whatever

In cali they raised wages and the cost of food in correlation with it, yet still expect the 20% tip which is now significantly more $. I do it but if I order at the counter and pay before I get my food, I generally donโt. Am I a bad person?

Are you talking about takeaway? I don't tip for that. Or do you mean more like a fast casual like a Chipotle or Panera? I don't tip on that either.

Then no, definitely not a bad person for that. I'm only tipping in the following situations: 1) Restaurant service from a waiter that comes to my table, takes order, brings food, refills drinks, etc 2) Delivery food 3) Hair stylist 4) Bartender
