Valuation reconstruction mechanism : The DEX market realizes price discovery through the AMM algorithm, and the typical project listing premium rate is 73.5% lower than that of CEX (Dune Analytics); DEX sucks CEX liquidity to give birth to a new paradigm of asset pricing: community consensus → DEX liquidity proof → CEX passive listing

AVP has two possible directions: - work device - entertainment device never quite got there on productivity and was too expensive as an entertainment device. if it were half the price as a personal movie theater (and all the streaming services) I think it would actually sell well

Day 12: Dispatches A semi-cohesive collection of spectacular gonzo flavored Vietnam War semi-journalism. Chaotic neutral on the war book alignment chart. The author worked on the scripts for Apocalypse Now and Full Metal Jacket and this book has a lot of that energy. It also created lot of the vibe and a lot of the tropes that show up consistently in other Vietnam War movies. It’s heavy on absurdity and you constantly feel like anything could happen, but it never gets too disorienting. If you read it in a single sitting, you’d spend the next week talking like Dennis Hopper’s character from Apocalypse Now. Five stars. Definitive work

"In the years preceding the war, Palestine’s tech ecosystem had come under the spotlight of various multinational tech majors, including Nvidia, Apple and Microsoft. Many Gazans saw an opportunity to earn a dignified income and overcome the challenges posed by Israel’s blockade of the enclave since 2007, and the number of Palestinians engaged in tech-related professions grew significantly. “There was exponential growth because some of the universities started teaching AI technology, and tech became the most desirable subject that guaranteed quick bucks,” said Rabi. Most of those who come to Taqat’s coworking sites work in industries ranging from coding and programming to animation and graphic design for clients based primarily in Western countries and the Gulf, Rabi said." Day nine: The Ancient City An incredible portrait of life in ancient times, centered around how early religion grew into early civic life. If you think about the Roman Empire every day and you haven’t read this yet, you should treat yourself. It’s so juicy and homey compared to the sanitized and streamlined histories of wars and large scale politics. I keep multiple copies in my house to give away so that I don’t end up losing my personal copy. The most vivid and human look at life in classical Greece and Rome. Pound for pound my favorite book on ancient times. Five stars. Keep the home fire burning 🫡

academic policy paper on this for those interested: https://fireecology.springeropen.com/articles/10.1186/s42408-024-00301-y also learned there’s an large amount of startups globally using AI + sensors or satellites (or both) for fire detection and a small but growing number using robots / drones for firefighting.

learning as much as i can about wildfires. prescribed burns are a prevention tactic to reduce the buildup of vegetation that could serve as fire fuel. it takes an avg of 4.7 yrs for a prescribed burn to get through environmental reviews. 80M acres need urgent treatment — that means now, not in 5 years. maddening!
