Gm /running, need some opinions on this: I started training for a 10k race in March, but now I’m considering doing a half marathon race at the end of May. My longest run/jog is an hour, 10k, on a treadmill, a week ago. Is a half marathon race by the end of May too ambitious of a goal for my amateur self?

definitely feasible! try to get off the treadmill though, it does sooo much work for you (unless you're using one of the curved self-pacing ones) i trained over the winter on a treadmill for a race in the spring and was doing an 8min mile there but ended up clocking in at a 9:20 pace in the actual race πŸ₯²

Aw man this makes me sad to hear because I’d love to get off the treadmill but where I live is -20-40 temps until April. I might just have to start investing in winter running gear if that’s the case πŸ₯²

i feel you, i live in montreal so outdoor running isn't always feasible haha. a compromise can be running on a slight incline on the treadmill - just try to increase the amount of effort you have to put in to propel yourself forward, that's the biggest difference with running on treadmill vs the ground

Oh for sure i definitely have it on an incline all the time but either way running on a treadmill is also zero fun hahaha so im hoping to get the gear and learn all about winter running if i continue my amateur running career lol ☺️
