I’ve been following Dencun convos and it’s striking to me how much effort goes into managing tech discussions and how little into managing the optics/marketing narrative inside/outside crypto. The engineering : marketing ratio (Grabowski ratio) is dangerously low. http://www.marketingvp.com/download/whois.pdf

interesting observation. but why "dangerously low"? what upside do you see to shifting this ratio? I don't necessarily disagree with you. but am curious.

Research shows successful technologies have a ratio of 1:1. Failed technologies have very low ratios.

heard! reading this pdf. when considering ethereum protocol development, the core devs spend little to no energy marketing their work. it's true. at this point the core protocol is the bazaar and the apps/L2s/infra providers are the cathedrals tasked with marketing. all scattered throughout the infinite garden.

I don’t think they do a very good job tbh

I don't disagree. and I work at an L2 :) I think it's a funky mix of technical concepts, paradigm-shifting tech, and a general lack of focus on "the user" within the ecosystem. but mainly, underinvestment. our team is about 6:1 engineers to marketers at the moment. shifting though.

You don’t need marketers per se. In fact that can be counterproductive. More like technical people who think product first rather than cool nerd shit first. Steve Jobs more than Guy Kawasaki. Marketing != marketers.
