funny thing I did was look through their holdings/other ens names and tracked them down on Twitter and kept DMing them. It worked out and we negotiated a fair price

it’s simple! overthrow the ENS government and ask to price private property using partial common ownership to avoid monopolistic abuse

Really depends on the squatter whether they want 0.1, 1 or 10 ETH for a name and it generally doesn't even matter whether the name is any good. (Unless we get into grails territory.) Some more context would be useful but I can understand you not wanting to share too much.
