Does anyone here write the majority of their code in vim? Are you really faster relying purely on keystrokes than with the mouse + basic shortcuts in a modern IDE?

I do, and an important distinction is vim keybindings vs a terminal workflow. IMO the vim bindings are worthwhile learning for any dev as they can be used in any editor, and they can help you be faster. However a terminal workflow is where things really get fast https://stevedylan.dev/posts/a-terminal-based-workflow

For me Nixvim sold it. It's not about the keystrokes, but iteration on every function of your editor. Being able to also run my editor, with my config, from any server with a Nix run command is also very useful.
