OK my thinking has evolved (was probably midcurving as usual) » a canonical fractionalised token could be an amazing tool to reward builders, making good use of our treasury Nouns, & adding liquidity and fidelity. » a memecoin is like any kind of proliferation or derivative: copies make the original more valuable.

Another underrated aspect ERC20s have is that marketcap is more easily viewable and comparable to other ones. Nouns currently sits at ~$26m based on the last few auctions and that number seems absurdly low relative to how much reach it has.

I was a memecoin hater and then realized: doing the current thing is not necessarily bad. Imagine if Nouns had “not” done the current thing with NFTs? I think the magic is in the execution: can nouns build a better memecoin? can they innovate in the same way they elegantly created the perpetual auction mechanism?

Distributing native token through rounds definitely feels good but really do wonder if there’s some subtext here of trying to tap into a retail hype cycle. 🦈 🩸 Imo very likely small investors will pay a premium in bull and sell at a discount to NAV in bear same as $shark
