i continue to find higher fascinating nouns and higher are both headless brands but the *absence* of the dao seems to make it more obvious to higher fans that permissionless participation is welcome and encouraged the *presence* of a fungible token also creates more economic alignment amongst the fan base. any fan can buy any amount of $higher that fits for them. there’s a feeling of shared squad wealth that bitcoin has, ethereum has, that higher has but nouns does not bc most nouns fans don’t own nouns nfts of course the inverse of the above is also higher’s weaknesses. even with a $30m mkt cap, it’s probably hard to coordinate funding $100k+ or $1m+ community projects atm. bitcoin with its $1.5T mkt cap routinely struggles to raise ~$10m / yr for its ~50 core open source devs. tragedy of the commons is a real thing esp as you grow further

i feel this a lot. every nouns fan goes through some version of governance burnout. the best trick for a sustainable nouns fandom is to remind yourself that nouns is a headless brand and its world is bigger than the dao. you don’t need permission

zora’s “spark” unit is starting to grow on me. 1 spark being one millionth of 1 eth. we have gwei but that’s one billionth of an eth and that’s just too small. 111 sparks (price of 1 mint) is around 30 cents right now. 1 spark is around a quarter of a cent. i feel like there’s a decent chance this sticks https://zora.co/writings/sparks

these notifications about someone minting after seeing you mint is weirdly satisfying. i think i would care less if it was just a follow “like” but follow “mint” means the creator actually made more eth bc of it. kind of cool. (everyone also go mint the @benbodhi doc by @leoclark.eth to support the work!)

i’m now officially on the zora app. loaded some eth. minting everything from nouns folks. it’s not exactly bound (isn’t scoped to mints that share rewards back to the nouns treasury) but the minting UX is FINALLY exactly what i ever hoped for (double tap; no fuss) reply if you’re actively posting on zora and i should follow you!

@latsko.eth you should bring back butter and allow payments in $nouns! then if nouns fans earn $nouns combined with the recent smart wallet developments where they can pay gas with erc 20s it would allow someone to buy buy a hat / hoodie from your store without even having to onboard to any fiat onramp to get eth just straight $nouns to merch. all self-custodial. the dream. same for you @bigshotklim! or @nouncoffee! a casual fan earning enough $nouns to get to a full noun would be hard. but getting to a point where you can get a hoodie or toy or coffee should be reasonably attainable even with just like a few well-liked casts on /nouns with the $nouns @rounds

love the idea of nouns creating new and better inclusion parameters than the existing ones in existing subcultures one dynamic just ppl sharing something in common (nouns) that leads them to feel a shared belonging and see past the normal stereotypes. another is actual physical gatherings (eg nouns town) and digital gatherings (this channel) that mash these subcultures together tbh this is one of the things i love most about nouns. my life is much more full of interesting subcultures and ppl as a result of nouns. you can also see it happening everywhere. like smash esports players stayed more days to come to the film festival and come to dreamland and that included them in new spaces that they normally would not be in and they loved it
