etherscan charging $10s of millions per deployment is likely a big reason but I don't think it's the most important one I just want people who have been telling me that Etherscan permanently secured the bag to not give up so fast. You can take on the single largest player in any space with OSS and enough drive , determination & optimism

Yeah agree with this, I do think that OSS devs should get compensated for the value they’re adding into the space though. I know Blockscout offer hosted service so hope that is a good enough model for them.

I great example of this is Tenderly taking on etherscan via starting with devs and really just killing it.
