That said, apps having to aggregate data is bad devx & the relay is a single point of failure

according to their docs the relay is just an optimization for ux. 

i'm more bluesky curious after reading. i used to think a blockchain was necessary for the identity layer but less sure now.

I don’t know enough about the aggregation and relay process, but if you run your own relay, you’d have to aggregate all the siloed data yourself, right?

yeah true - not sure if that's a heavier lift than running a farcaster node but sounds like it is
