Experiment: Hiding power badges Power badges will be hidden on Warpcast for a week. We’re running this experiment because: 1. New user find it hard to get follows due to “power badge bias” 2. Power badge isn’t being used much in Warpcast anymore.

Re: Power badge isn’t being used much in Warpcast anymore. The Power badge, as a social reputation layer, is actually widely used in the Farcaster ecosystem. https://warpcast.com/dwr.eth/0x517da764

I also don't understand this statement. Apps like @buoy and @recaster-fc heavily rely on the power badge. What’s the point of having a decentralized protocol if every app in the ecosystem depends on a single client that dominates the protocol by implementing centralized features and can decide to shut them down whenever they want?

If developers want to maintain the PB, at least in the backend, they should advocate for that. Currently, many people are advocating that PBs go away. And maybe with machine learning and other scores, the PB isn't as usual to the social aspect of the platform as it once was.

why cant there just be a way for the people that really, really want it -- and in all honesty after they've proved not to be a scammer -- to get it. i dont understand why the number of pbs given out have barely, if at all, changed. i do think pbs have some use cases (not advocating for them to be set at this level), but it is nice to have a little reassurance that the person we are talking to is who they say and that they are trustworthy -- its a vouch system. i get that nothing really says that, but it helps a little bit if you were put thru a few tests/obstacles to get there.
