Experiment: Hiding power badges Power badges will be hidden on Warpcast for a week. We’re running this experiment because: 1. New user find it hard to get follows due to “power badge bias” 2. Power badge isn’t being used much in Warpcast anymore.

Once upon a time, a power badge was needed to show up in conversations. That's no longer the case - Warpcast uses machine learning to find low quality content and move it into "Show more" It's good for users because the machine learning models a lot more accurate than the power badge was.

would be helpful to have some kind of "distance on social graph" badge if power badge does go away. Agree a hard coded list is hard to scale / get new users on. But no visual cue is also annoying, esp when I've noticed increasing # of spammy users in priority mentions lately.

Instead of a power badge can we show a badge for streaks + quality on the channel posts. Basically like a high quality poster for specific channels only. So if someone posts to /nouns consistently and with quality it's marked as such? So no longer profile specific.

I still like power badges because they help me identify if I'm dealing with a legitimate account or a scammer trying to impersonate a project or user.
