Having ridden trains in the US, Japan, and the UK. The US is right fucked in getting people from A to B. Idk why we can't get trains functional for our country. Would go a long way towards unity.

Probably ‘rich’ nation mentality and ppl who feel they are rich doesn’t wanna travel in trains! Govt should promote it

More than “rich people nation mentality” is individualistic, capitalistic and corporate first mentality. There’s a reason why auto cities like Detroit doesn’t have strong public transportation: lobbying by the auto industry

And it’s a real problem for lower income folk. It boxes them in. I grew up in Houston which is a huge city but I never saw 3/4 of it because you had to have a car to go anywhere. Even public buses were and still are limited to this day. 4th largest city in US and most kids there never see 3/4 of it. Crazy.

Actually the upper middle class in Germany loves trains too. For our geography, you‘re faster door to door, and opposed to cars or planes, you can conveniently open a laptop and work for 8hrs without getting motion sickness while getting closer to your goal. Trains are amazing on so many levels
