News sparks discussion - should welcome it. 

Other things I’ve felt threads leaned into (not fights and alt right):

> personal finance/wealth advisors
> photographers (duh IG)
> sports people (again, media and clips)
> random hyper local stuff (imo not working)

Isn’t this the point of having different channels? If you’re not here for news, you can stick to channels that aren’t about news and so on?

Feel like a lot of what we’re seeing should be posted in /news, (or whatever that channel might be) but if it’s surfacing everywhere, that’s more of a discovery issue than a problem with journalists joining. Personally, I welcome it—quality journalism is more valuable than ever in an AI-driven world. To me it seems to be merely a matter of using channels correctly so everyone can curate their experience. More human-driven reporting is a net positive here—just my hot take.

Adding my hot take here, but maybe I’m biased because my partner is a journalist.

What impact if any do you think the reply UX plays on that?

Long threads seem to get cumbersome but not sure that breaking (or any) news actually requires long threads/discussions
