Ethereum has made far too many “significant convenience sacrifices”

We all have way too many wallets

We’ve just traded one problem for another by making it easy for every app to spin up its own wallet for each user

Now we have our identity/assets/history fragmented across dozens of wallets 

Unfortunately, I don’t think enough wallet providers care about this problem for users

Wallets have contributed to ecosystem fragmentation as much as anything in Ethereum

It’s painfully difficult for new users to understand and use wallets efficiently. Wallets should be canonical at the protocol level

Seems like privacy could be difficult to preserve in that structure

If the app addresses are deterministically linked to your seed phrase and primary address it’s a step up from the current privy and smart wallet fragmentation where you barely own your keys and they are spread out over many secrets.

What should be done instead that still breaks the link of one's activity across applications?

Better to sacrifice convenience than compromise core values like trust and decentralization
