Words are at best signposts for meaning — they can never do more than point at truth. The best words align people without leaving much room for misinterpretation

Unfortunately, there are also words that exist purely to align people without respect for meaning

Increasingly, I feel like “onchain” is in the latter camp

A chain is a tool for economic coordination. It’s not the point of all this work we’re doing. If you fixate on the tool, you’ll never reach the real customer

permissionless and interoperable are better words to describe onchain apps
