they could anyway (download and mint) but we're experimenting with making the most convenient way to do so, one where you get paid. the reasoning is that, as a creator, when you create something of value, you should "mint first, then distribute." you might post and then think, damn i should mint that, and now you can!

would you report people who share your art for you to get paid? this is raising the type of conversation i had hoped for. like, now with L2s, preminting, and gas being so cheap, as an artist, i mint anything i create before sharing it anywhere else. because i want that timestamped provenance. minting is almost free now

Yikes. We report those and get them banned on marketplaces. Highly doubt any artist will agree to have their work stolen and minted without their consent. I'd advise you to rethink that part cause that would be a legal nightmare for you.

Sure, people can steal our work. Thats the danger of sharing our art but you thinking this is ok and creating a tool to do it is not ok. What if the work has already been minted and sold as a 1/1? What if the artist has plans for these pieces? They belong to us and no one else.

Copyright still applies — as do the remedies. If the media is not cc0 or similar, I wouldn’t recommend doing this. Slippery legal slope.

if you read further, you'll see this idea iterating quickly. intention is to streamline bringing work onchain for artists. so often we see a "where's the mint button" reply to posts. what if we make it so that our action button triggers a reply from @bendit that's a frame for the artist to easily deploy? ie. validation

This is a very bad take. I share art I have no intention of minting but don’t want someone else to mint it. You know just because you can do something doesn’t mean it should be done. Sounds like you’d be on the wrong side in history here.

How are you handling trademark & DMCA issues here man?

Artists who create have control & it's one thing to allow personal use (download/mint) but it's another thing to profit from it and automate those rips.

I get the concept but without artist permission this is gonna be a nasty legal issue way sooner than later.
