In all their previous videos they said that Arc was supposed to turn into an AI powered browser. Now they're building a new AI web browser called Dia? Did Arc's architecture not allow them to add the AI features they're prototyping? There are products adding these sort of capabilities at the OS level so not sure if building yet another browser with Notion AI integrated makes sense. We'll see. https://www.theverge.com/2024/12/2/24310944/dia-ai-browser-video-arc-the-browser-company

The moment Arc team put out that video about what they thought was the future I thought about this scene and can't unthink it: https://youtu.be/xd5tpFX3_xA?feature=shared

If I had to guess: all of the quirky, unique features of Arc are too confusing for most people used to Chrome and Safari. The new strategy is make the browser super basic and just add deeply-embedded AI.

Love Arc but this basically means end of it 🤷♂️ no team can sensibly and successfully build two products in the same market

Arc is a cool party trick but for real work, normal browsers work fine. What they should focus on is perfecting what normal browsers like chrome already do. Making niche solutions for problems that didn't exist in the first place isn't a way to adopt users.
