IMO group chats and gated channels don't fit the public text broadcast nature of a protocol like Farcaster.

It might make sense at a certain scale but it's far from it.

We need more great content and ways to discover said content.
Splitting the network doesn't accomplish this.

my pithy way of framing this is that it's "agoraphobics jeeting Metcalfe's Law".

though one can & should argue that single-purpose clients are more productive & less of a consumer tech, and there needs to be some measure of DDoS protection.

Would much rather lean on community nominations or referrals than “who can drop 3 ETH to join this alpha chat”. It’s why I left friend tech, it just further excludes instead of building community.

My impression about this app is that ‘this mf so greedy’
