IMO group chats and gated channels don't fit the public text broadcast nature of a protocol like Farcaster. It might make sense at a certain scale but it's far from it. We need more great content and ways to discover said content. Splitting the network doesn't accomplish this.

my pithy way of framing this is that it's "agoraphobics jeeting Metcalfe's Law". though one can & should argue that single-purpose clients are more productive & less of a consumer tech, and there needs to be some measure of DDoS protection.
