What makes data valuable is what you do with it, not the data itself. Just collecting it and selling it is the least useful thing you can do with it.

I am not sure we materially disagree. Your 2nd sentence = truth. Your 1st…data has intrinsic value, especially to its subject, and data’s use - and especially the choice whether to use - should almost always sit with the subject.
