"miyazaki is probably so upset" you are completely missing the point, of course none of us are aiming to create something that evokes even a sliver of the emotions that Ghibli movies do this is essentially fan art, accessible to everyone in seconds

I think, unfortunately, Pandora's Box has already been opened when it comes to AI and copyright, artists getting compensation, etc.. I also agree with this take(https://x.com/the_carlosdp/status/1905069793176096942) : fan art has existed forever, people have created derivatives of others' work forever (see Dreamworks copying Pixar), and ultimately great art wins. There's also a big difference between Art and images. It's not clear to me that this is necessarily "positive sum" for Ghibli (although it is crazy good advertising), but I don't see how it would hurt them?

good take that summarizes how I've been feeling better than I can. I agree it's been fun and genuinely shocking how great the model is now. But some part of it doesn't sit right for me still and the "everyone's just having fun" feels off even though I agree everyone is having fun (myself included) https://x.com/HipCityReg/status/1905245869609197773
