The whole Baroque Cycle! It’s like a 3 book prequel to Cryptonomicon. Its set during the Enlightenment in Europe(specifically late 17 century).  It has many interesting characters. Some of them ancestors to characters in Cryptonomicon (like the Shaftoes or Waterhouses) some real historical figures (Newton, Leibniz, Hooke, Pepys). Its amazing.
