Video and longer casts are both examples of stuff people ask for and then don't use very often. Ultimately both were worth adding, but stated vs. revealed preference strikes again.

In some cases it can be a UX problem. I don't use video much because I don't like the video player and most videos I want to share are on YouTube or some other platform. It's easier to paste the link than to figure out how to download the video, especially on mobile. Not sure about long casts since I do use them often now. Maybe people are not used to them yet or a better editor UX with more support for drafts and such could help. Product decisions affect user behavior.

@greg and others have claimed that. If the content was novel and compelling, you would. :)

The video player sucks in an enraging way. Sure, at a very high content quality you would still use it. If house of the dragon were only available here you would watch it here. But I would think the opposite is also true. Having a not terrible video player would get more use even if the content is not that good

What would make it better?

It’s really hard to move the progress bar back and forth. When you miss it the video player jiggles around instead. Making it easier to move back and forth in the video and have the video player feel more robust (not make it move around when you touch the screen and move it) would go a long way
