In my latest post I draw attention to the proliferation of paradiastoles. Once you see them, you can’t unsee them. It also contains references to shoggoths, orange juice, a *very* weird love making situation, and artificial intelligence. https://www.foxwizard.com/paradiastoles/

I love it *and* I have often found it challenging to work with fine lines for a logo, as it just doesn’t render so well on phone or small scale. Still, it its evocative for you, go with it. ✨

Public domain art of the day: "Girl Reading on a Divan" by Isaac Israëls (ca. 1920) Exactly how I plan to spend my weekend: unwinding and relaxing with a good book after a stressful day of work today.

Thanks so much for sharing, @danicaswanson 🧡 ironically, a friend also sent me this video but I only saw the message after I made the post. It’s another great presentation on the importance of tending to our networks. https://youtu.be/0FwM8HdOY-A

Ace, thank you. Appreciate the reply. I’ve been inspired by the both/and approach you are taking.

Yancey this is so cool; can’t wait to see it! Also, curious: I’ve loved seeing your move to ghost, and the sensibility/pragmatism of maintaining a presence on substack. Do you now mostly direct folk to substack, or your homepage on ghost? Or is either way fine?

Yes! Comfy big kindle and Readwise tablet. Android is a punish (coming from Apple), and there are no good minimalist writing apps, it seems. (Nothing like Ulysses or iaWriter) but Obsidian works well. Overall; impressed.

Once upon a time I would have said RUNE (for thorchain)—but they then messed with the model. The token is still definitely needed for managing cross-chain liquidity, but it will be a while yet before I can confidently recommend it (they need to clear some bad debt first)

I wrote about why I think system conditions matter more than individual performance in producing quality writing, and why CLPs (conversational liquidity providers) on FC are underserved. Inspired by "Quality is Systemic," a great blog post by Jacob Kaplan-Moss, and by the members of the Return On Attention group chat. https://paragraph.xyz/@danicaswanson/quality-writing-is-systemic

This was so fun to read, too. There’s nothing that compares to Discworld. Not by a long shot. And you’ve got me inspired to revisit some of the books I haven’t read in decades.

This might be the most fun I’ve had writing an essay in a while. Felt some of that old going-nuts-with-an-idea energy flowing. https://open.substack.com/pub/contraptions/p/discworld-rules?r=1cjha&utm_medium=ios

If the Musk-Trump playbook works, what’s left of valuable state capacity in the USG will basically be sold to private equity by 2028. Anything left behind because it can’t be privatized will be tax-revenue starved, with any jobs that remain being filled by industry-captured right-wing staffers. The only meaningful kind of capacity left will be military and police capacity. Ie a night-watchman state. If you ignore the political theater around DOGE, it’s basically the PE playbook for domestic policy. The exact things you’d do to take a vulnerable company private via hostile takeover. Trade wars as the basis for foreign policy is similarly the PE playbook in international relations. Taking an entire country private. “Efficiency” as a pure religion has no other purpose than enclosure. What’s going on is the exact opposite of public goods thinking in the sense the Ethereum community values,

You are genuinely tempting me back :) I took a hiatus from much of social media for a while as I had to focus on writing and fiat work for a while. Hope to be back in a practice of regular sharing here again soon 🧡
