We should do a better job explaining. I don't think most people care about old casts? It's a 5-10% of users that really care about preserving everything.

tysm πŸ™ thinking in public: a cast is a JSON, while a Farchive is a gzipped tarball of (optionally encrypted) Markdown files. where is the best entry point to read about the integration tools?

Of course! We've got a few things going on that could be used. Turbo (our uploading service) would be a great start. Uploads <100KB are currently free too. https://docs.ardrive.io/docs/turbo/what-is-turbo.html Could also look at running an ar.io gateway customized to uncompress / decrypt any files for serving.
