Why use Venmo over a wire or ACH? Obviously because there are clear advantages - speed, ease of use, & transparency. 

Do, what are the advantages of using blockchain tech over Venmo, etc? Permissionless, censorship resistant, true transparency from the chain. It doesn’t matter if users “see” the tech…

becomes more divisive, I think it likely that users will want to make sure that no one can shut down their accounts and prevent them from transacting. But, they’ll also want the ease of use of Venmo. Those people are the true market for what @yuga talked about in the OP.

because as long as the rails for the transaction are blockchain tech, you get all of those benefits (assuming a chain like ETH) simply by using it. Even though many users (probably most, eventually) won’t check the chain, they can and they still get censorship resistance and permissionless usage.
