Show not tell. I come from an Asian family and in general your parents don’t affirm affection verbally. They just dedicate their lives to us. I always say the hardest thing to see in life is the thing that’s not there but if it were itd make your life easier. I find it useful to meditate on that wrt to my life (tongue scraper is a good one)

Metaphorical truth: Something that literally false or unknown, but if you act as if it were true you’re better off than acting based on how it actually is. Some exs 1. Porcupines can shoot their quills They can’t, but your mom might say this to keep you away from them, and this decreases odds of getting pined. 2. Treat all guns as if they are loaded If I had an empty gun, then it’s harmless. That doesn’t mean I can play cops and robbers with it. You’re better off lying to yourself about it being loaded so you treat it with respect.
